Henry Wylie Moore was the second Bishop in Cyprus and the Gulf “.〔Who was Who 1897-2007 London, A & C Black, 1991 〕 Born in 1923,〔Crockfords On line- accessed Thursday 10 April 2008, 17:41〕 his first job after leaving school was as a clerk with the LMS railway. From 1942 until 1946 he served in the armed forces, firstly with the King's Regiment (Liverpool), and latterly with the Rajputana Rifles. In 1950 he graduated from the University of Liverpool〔In 1972 he gained a further degree (an MA)〕 and after a period of study at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford was ordained in 1952, his first post being a curacy at Farnworth, Cheshire. After a period as a missionary in Khuzistan he held incumbencies at Burnage and Middleton.
